13th Sept 2012 - It is great to see some new folk signing up. Please feel free to not only download resources that have been posted on here, but also upload any that you think other Media staff may find useful. Everyone who signs up has administrator rights which should make uploading hassle free. Liz S
21st Jan 2012 -I have deleted the 'Members' Details' page so that we can broadcast this wiki far and wide without also broadcasting people's contact details. Iain Stuart, Islay, has made the wiki readable even as a non-member - in the hopes of attracting some new members. Also, please take a look at a new discussion thread started above (in 'Discussions') by Iain regarding revamping the wiki and opening it out to attract more members. Please feel free to add comments/get involved/encourage other Media Studies / English teachers to sign up. Also, here is a link for the current FILMG Gaidhlig film competition: http://filmg.co.uk/en/films You can vote on the site - I'd recommend Islay High's 'Uisge Bheatha' entry. Liz S.
5th Dec - Inspired by Steven, I've uploaded all my notes and resources on Jaws, the Corpse Bride and other bits and pieces I've come across... (or purloined) on the Media Texts within English page. Emma Mc
4th Dec - An early Christmas present from Dunblane! I have uploaded a plethora of resources on "The Truman Show" and "Supersize Me". Enjoy. Steven :)
3rd Dec - I've added a couple of weblinks for Movie Storm resources on the 'weblinks' page. Liz S.
7th Oct - As you join, please add your membership details (and any other info you like) to the Members' Details so that we all know who we are speaking to! Thanks.
4th Oct - The name of the wiki has been changed to reflect its national membership, so it is now Media Studies Scotland!
3rd Oct (2) - Hi all, have added a few links and started a new page exclusively for media resources for within English. Emma's comment on the weblinks page got me thinking that it would be good to have examples of teaching media within English here too, as well as exclusive Media Studies resources. Will add Dunblane resources soon. Steven :)
3rd Oct - It is brilliant to see so much activity and the sharing of so many great resources already! A couple of thoughts:
(1) It will probably be easier to create a page per person when uploading resources as the pages will quickly become quite unmanageable the more they contain - have renamed the first Resources page as 'Resources - Fraserburgh' (wasn't sure whether it was Emma or Kelly who had posted there - feel free to rename if you want to add your own name!).
(2) With prelim papers, etc, being posted it will evidently not be appropriate to allow pupil access. You can easily download resources onto your hard drive from here for use with pupils. Thanks for all the brilliant contributions so far!
1st October 2011 -Media Studies Highlands - This is a new wiki which has been set up to facilitate discussion, resource sharing, collaborative assessment and moderation of Media Studies among secondary teachers of Media Studies in Scotland. (Will be changing the name of this wikispace to 'Media Studies Scotland 2011' once current invitees have all signed in - to avoid confusion!)
This is your space so please feel free to create new pages, upload resources, get discussions started. As you join, I will convert your membership to 'organizer' status so that you can add, edit, comment and upload as you wish.
[NB: One small point to note is that this is a private educators' site and is therefore free. If you change the permissions to public access, the site then loses its private educators' status which, I think, then means it would no longer be a free site.]
If you know a media-minded teacher who would like to be invited to join please do invite them.
Please add your details to the Members' Details page so we all know who we are!
